The first Javanese War of Succession was a dispute between Amangkurat III , Susuhunan (“ruler”) of the Javanese kingdom of Mataram (reign 1703-1708) from 1704 to 1708 to his uncle, Prince Puger, who considered himself Legitimate heir to the previous king, Amangkurat II , and whom the VOC ( Dutch East India Company ) will recognize as sovereign under the title of Pakubuwono I (reign 1704-1719).
