Jailolo is a kecamatan district regency of Halmahera western province Indonesian of North Maluku . It is located on the west coast of Halmahera . It is a port that serves the coastal villages of the northwest of the island.

History

Jailolo is a former sultanate . Until the arrival of the Europeans, it was the most important political entity of Halmahera.

Culture

The local people are the Sahu . They celebrate the rice harvest in August and September with traditional dances. The Sahu recently converted to Christianity.
