The Stasiun Peluncuran Roket (literally “rocket launch station” in Indonesian) or “basic launch LAPAN” is a basic launch of sounding rockets of the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN ). It is located near Pameungpeuk (in) in the province of West Java in Indonesia and was mainly used to start with Type RX-250-LPN (in) .
History
The site, whose construction began in 1963, is the result of cooperation between Indonesia and Japan. Designed by Hideo Itokawa it is initially designed to study the upper atmosphere with Japanese sounding rockets Kappa-8 a , 1 . The first launch took place on 7 August 1965. It is followed by two more shots in the space of ten days 2 .
Thereafter the site is mainly used for the launching of eight sounding Indonesian design RX-250-LPN (en) (between 1987 and 2007): rockets 5.30 m high altitudes up to 70 km in average, 100 km maximum 3 . The first two shots are launcher launcher missions, the next two are aeronautical missions (as for the Kappa rocket) and two are for the ionosphere study . It should be noted that these four shots took place over two days b . Finally the last two were test missions 3 .
The site share subsequently served launches in 2008 and 2009, three more rockets rocket family RX (in) : two RX-320 rockets and 420 rocket RX- 4 .
List of rocket launches
Between 1965 and 2009, a total of fourteen shots were fired from site 4 .
